Meet Mabel a Weimaraner and friend of Emma

This is Emma's friend Mabel. They get along very well, but like kids they do tend to goof around when they are together. Another elegant Weimaraner! Younger than Emma and much more energy to burn.

Meet Emma a Weimaraner (session)

Allow me to introduce...Emma. Emma is a Weimaraner. The Weimaraner is a silver-gray breed of dog developed originally in early 19th century for hunting. Early Weimaraners were used by royalty for hunting large game, such as boar, bears, deer, and foxes. As the popularity of large game hunting began to decline, Weimaraners were used for hunting smaller animals, like fowl, rabbits, and foxes. Rather than having a specific purpose such as pointing or flushing, the Weimaraner is an all purpose gun dog. The Weimaraner is loyal and loving to his family, an incredible hunter, and a fearless guardian of his family and territory. The name comes from the Grand Duke of Weimar, Karl August, whose court enjoyed hunting.

The Weimaraner is elegant, noble, and athletic in appearance. All parts of the dog should be in balance with each other, creating a form that is pleasing to the eye. I certainly found Emma to be a very elegant dog.

Meet Dixie a Cairn Terrier (session)

This is Dixie.

Over 200 years ago, on the ancient Isle of Skye and in the Scottish Highlands, the ancestors of today's Cairn Terrier earned their keep routing vermin from the rock piles (called cairns) commonly found on Scottish farmland.

Today the Cairn Terrier in America is a sensible, confident little dog, independent but friendly with everyone he meets. That was certainly the case with Dixie!

A walk in the park

I discovered these wonderful dogs during a recent trip to Charlestown Landing. Lots of tongues on a very hot day.

Welcome to Pete's Pets Portraits

Welcome to my site! Allow me to explain the name:

PETE'S That's me, Peter Finger Professional Photographer. I have several websites, several blogs, all geared towards specific photography areas of focus. Please feel free to browse my other sites.

PETS Although most of the work you will see on this blog will be dogs and cats, I didn't want to limit my range of subjects. So if you have a pet that happens to be a horse, a bird, hamster, guinea pigs, snakes or ferrets, I can handle your photo needs.

PORTRAITS My approach to pet portraits is to photograph your pet or pets in the most comfortable environment possible. Usually that means your home, both inside or out. Sometimes it might be your favorite park, beach or other location where your pet will look and feel their best. I also like to have fun doing these sessions, be prepared for that.

Ok here are some more important "P"'s:

PHILOSOPHY and PERSONALITY: I try and photography your pet as they really are. If they run around , we will try and catch that action, if they love to sleep, let's photograph that. I also love to photograph your pet with you. In order to show the love , respect and closeness you have with your pet, these pet/owner images are important.

PRODUCTS: Each "sitting" which runs from a minimum of one hour up to 2-3 hours depending on your needs, includes a DVD of your images AND an online gallery posting where friends and family can also view all of the images and order prints and other products.

Each session also includes my fine art interpretation of your images, this includes black and white and sepia conversions, color adjustments, elimination of unwanted details, and other "artistic" embellishments.
